An excellent answer on Quora shows what old school (10 years old) payment services look like, and also explains why is MB only active in adult and gambling (without mentioning it’s obscene pricing).
EDIT: See Daniel’s response below, it seems like the facts here are disputed (as well as my understanding of Skrill’s business model. I haven’t looked at the company deeply since 2005 or maybe a bit later). My apologies to the team.
There are several errors in your blog post here, even though you just wrote one sentence yourself.
1) Skrill/Moneybookers does not work in the adult industry. Just check our AUP. During my 3+ years no one has ever on-boarded a customer within the Adult industry or a merchant who is remote close to this industry.
2) Our pricing model is not obscene, not more than anyone else like Klarna, Dibs, PayPal etc. We have 2 different pricing models. One which is based on no monthly fees and with a fixed fee and a percentage per transaction for our smaller customers who just wants to get started without signing and contracts that binds them for a long period. Same model that PayPal and Payson is using, but were 90% of the times cheaper.
And then we have a classic payments processor model where we only act as a “PSP” and charge a small fee (cent per transaction) + monthly and setup fees. Similiar to Worldpay, Dibs, Global Collect etc.
About me:
I’m the Head of Nordics, worked for Skrill for 3+ years and I work with some of our biggest clients in the Nordics.
I’ll be more than happy to invite you to our office in Stockholm and I can explain how we work. Cause the things mentioned in your post and in the Quora post just isn’t true.
Best regards,
Daniel Strömberg

Thank you Daniel, I probably had a very old version of MoneyBookers in mind (2005). The post will be fixed.
